EGGPLANT Gains! Today we’re going to dig deep into one of my favourite vegetables for the summertime. There are so many health benefits from the aubergine (fancy, huh?!) so keep reading and make sure to take advantage of them before summer ends.

Traditional East Asian medicine believes that during different seasons, eating certain cooling or warming foods can help to combat the changing weather. Our body and our health are directly associated with the environment and so changes in the weather can affect our body and therefore our health.

During the summer, it can get extremely hot and dry in the Bay Area. This leads my body to acquire heat and dry out, ultimately leading to heat rashes, constipation and lack of fluid in the body. 

From an East Asian Medicine perspective, eggplants are cooling and therefore a great summer vegetable. They help remove heat trapped in our bodies, namely our digestive system, helping it to flow smoothly.
